In 1994 Tom lost his first wife in a tragic commercial plane crash claiming 132 lives. That day, Tom had to share the unthinkable with their then 4 year old daughter Emily. For seven years Tom and Emily learned to survive the loss and gradually live life without their wife and mother. In 2001 Tom and Sally met and in November 2001 married, Tom and then 11 year old Emily came together with Sally and then, 1 year old Willson to begin a Journey of faith and transformation as a family of four.
In 2003 Tom and Sally traveled to Kazakhstan to meet their 9 month old baby girl Alexandra Sharvan (Andy, now 8!) and in 2005 the family was given a referral of a sweet 5 day old baby boy Jose, who tragically died at just five weeks old. A few short year later, in 2008 Sally traveled to Ethiopia to meet 4 year old Sophia Negat (Sophie, now 7)! More broken stories of loss and grief but by now, the Baer’s had a faith in God’s power to heal and restore the most broken hearts and to bring Light out of All Darkness!
Now living as a family of 6 and experience increased joy and grace in their lives and in 2008 and the time had come to step further into His Love through Faith. Little did they know that living in Ethiopia did require more faith but that it would also bring more Joy and Love into their lives than they ever imagined possible.
